Lovedrive is a studio album by the German rock band Scorpions, released in 1979. Michael Schenker, younger brother of rhythm guitarist Rudolf Schenker, performed lead guitar on 3 songs. This was the first album to feature Matthias Jabs as the band's new full-time lead guitarist, replacing Ulrich Jon Roth. The Scorpions released 'Lovedrive,' their sixth studio LP, on Feb. Prior to recording their sixth studio LP, 1979's Lovedrive , Scorpions had two main problems: finding major success outside their native Germany and hanging onto a lead guitarist. Fortunately for the band, both issues would soon be solved. With previous lead guitarist Uli Jon Roth out of the picture following 1977's Taken by Force , the remaining Scorpions needed a new axe man.
