Album

Game Theory is the seventh studio album by American hip hop band The Roots, released August 29, 2006, on Def Jam Recordings. The group's first release for the label after leaving Geffen Records, the album was recorded by the Roots mostly using the Apple-developed software application GarageBand. A darker, grittier album with minimal emphasis on hooks in comparison to their previous work, Game Theory features a stripped-down sound similar to the work of Public Enemy, with lyrics that concern. The Roots ft. Album Game Theory is the seventh album by hip hop group The Roots. It was released on August 29th 2006 through Def Jam, featuring singles Dont Feel Right and In the Music. The album is usually recognised as one of the groups heavier projects, touching on themes such as politics and the death of J Dilla. Its also noted for having a more cohesive jazz oriented aesthetic than The Roots' previous effort, The Tipping Point. Its considered one of the groups most progressive, focused works, and was included in several end of year lists like The Rolling Stones. John-John & Malik B. Game Theory is the Roots' equivalent of a Funkadelic playlist containing Wars of Armageddon, Cosmic Slop, Maggot Brain, March to the Witch's Castle, and America Eats Its Young. It's a vivid reflector of the times, not an escape hatch of which there are several readily available options. The point at which the album kicks into full gear, just a couple minutes later, arrives when tumbling bass drums and a Sly & the Family Stone sample This is a gameI'm your specimen are suddenly overtaken by pure panic - pulse-racing drums, anxious organ jabs, pent-up guitar snarls, and breathless rhyming from Black Thought. After listening to The Tipping Point, my expectations for this album was in the crossroads, although listening to Don't Feel Right made my longing for this album rise a bit. Once I did get this album and listened to it with my headphones, however, all fears and ill feelings carried from that album simply melted away
